The Special Needs and Disabilities Ministry Collaborative is a group of disabled and non-disabled Catholics seeking to provide spiritual support and resources to parish ministries to ensure the full participation of all people into the Body of Christ.”
We seek to ensure that community members with differences or disabilities have a sense of belonging in fellowship, formation, liturgy, and discipleship throughout the Diocese of Raleigh; not through separate or other, but through increased awareness that makes thoughtful adjustments from a genuine desire to love and build the Kingdom.
We welcome new members continuously. If you are interested in joining the Collaborative, please contact Katie Fortunato or Diego Almeda.
“Every Christian community considers those who suffer handicaps, physical or mental, as well as other forms of disability—especially children—as persons particularly beloved of the Lord…. The love of the Father for the weakest of his children and the continuous presence of Jesus and His Spirit give assurance that every person, however limited, is capable of growth in holiness.” (GDC, 189)
