RALEIGH – On Tuesday, Nov. 7, about 30 parents and students from a local homeschool group visited the Catholic Center, which is home to the bishop’s office and other diocesan offices.
While at the Catholic Center, they visited Diana Zwilling in the Office of the Archives and saw historical items. They also prayed and talked with Father Michael Schuetz in the chapel, and visited Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama and Father Michael Burbeck, vicar general, in the bishop’s office.
In observance of National Vocation Awareness Week (Nov. 5 – 11, 2023), Father Schuetz spoke with the children about vocations and answered their questions about his journey. He encouraged them to thank God each day for five things they are thankful for. They also spoke about Father Thomas Price, the first North Carolinian to become a Catholic priest, and the current seminarians in the Diocese of Raleigh.
The students visited the bishop’s office, where they met with him, and he talked about the life and vocation of Mother Teresa (1910 – 1997).
