Beginning with the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, which was celebrated on September 1, Pope Francis opened a month-long "Season of Creation."
Bishop Luis Zarama recently shared his thoughts on care for our common home, encouraging each of us to find the natural art and beauty all around us and to appreciate that the best masterpiece is our own world, created by God.
Earlier this year, Pope Francis indicated that he would be writing a follow-up document to "Laudato Si', On Care for Our Common Home.” This 2015 encyclical letter highlights Catholic teachings that respect the dignity of all God’s creation, including the people and the planet we inhabit. Following the publication of Laudato Si', the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation was instituted.
