DURHAM, NC—Immaculata Catholic School Principal, Mrs. Dana Corcoran, has been named “Honor Administrator” by the North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA). Mrs. Corcoran, who has more than 20 years of experience in the education field, received this recognition due to her deep understanding for the importance of the arts in education by supporting and implementing staffing, programming, and funding.
Through her leadership, the arts have become an indispensable part of school life at Immaculata. In particular, the music program has expanded exponentially during Mrs. Corcoran’s tenure (since 2009). When lack of funding for the arts has caused many schools to cut programming, Mrs. Corcoran has found ways to expand the music program at Immaculata and has worked with the school’s Director of Advancement to secure new instruments and equipment. Mrs. Corcoran has a unique ability to empower faculty and staff at Immaculata by showing her appreciation for the value and contributions they bring to the school. Her leadership creates an environment in which teachers are encouraged to use their strengths and skills to provide the best experience for all students.
An award ceremony and concert will be held on Monday, November 13, at 7:45 p.m. at the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem.
