Father Trent Watts dies in Wilmington

On January 17, 2021, Father Trent Watts, Pastor of Saint Therese Parish in Wrightsville Beach, died after a lengthy hospitalization in Wilmington due to the effects of COVID-19.

On behalf of Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama, your prayers are respectfully requested for the repose of the soul of Father Trent Watts, for his sister, Celeste, his family, his parish community and all who are now in mourning. Read Father Watt’s obituary.

Through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Priests and Saint John Vianney, may Father Trent know the fullness of God’s peace, the abundance of His mercy and the Light of His Kingdom this day.

Saint Mark Catholic Church has a limited capacity for the faithful to attend the funeral liturgies in person. Those wishing to attend services in person, will need to sign up for the Mass through this link. Seating is limited. More details are available at the sign-up link.

Faithful who attend either or both of the funeral liturgies in person are respectfully requested to observe and maintain the proper social distancing protocols, namely maintain 6 feet of distance between you and others outside of your immediate family/members with whom you cohabitate, wear a face-covering or mask, use hand-sanitizer provided upon entry into the church building and only lower your face-covering at Mass to consume the Eucharist, repositioning it immediately thereafter.
