RALEIGH - More than 600 educators gathered at Cardinal Gibbons High School Sept. 13 for the Diocese of Raleigh Office of Education's biennial Diocesan Professional Development Day.
The event provided a unique opportunity for Catholic school teachers and administrators from across the diocese to come together for a day of learning, reflection and spiritual growth.
This year's event saw an expansion of programming to include faith-centered activities, offering attendees the chance to participate in Eucharistic adoration, reconciliation and prayer.
Marcia Navarro, assistant superintendent of leadership, valued the day's schedule.
"I appreciated the opportunity for a rosary group to start our day. The joy of having all of our educators together for the day is very powerful,” she said.
The sentiment was echoed by Michael Mastrocinque, director of instruction, who highlighted the event's significance in fostering a sense of community among diocesan educators.
"These types of events bring together all of the educators in the diocese as a family," he said. “Today was an opportunity for all of our educators to reflect on their joyful vocation as teachers."
The Diocesan Professional Development Day serves as a vital platform for educators to enhance their skills, share best practices and strengthen their commitment to Catholic education. By combining professional development with spiritual enrichment, the Diocese of Raleigh continues to support its educators in their mission to provide high-quality, faith-based education to students across the region.
