We have become sadly accustomed to increasing amounts of random, senseless violence across our country. Experiencing this in our own community reminds us that we are connected to one another in many ways. It is also a painful reminder of how we must do better as a community to respect, protect and support one another.
I ask everyone in the Diocese of Raleigh to join with me in remembering the victims, their families and their neighbors. May we especially offer our condolences, love and prayers to those among our Catholic family who are deeply affected by this tragedy.
It is my hope that our prayers and outreach to the entire community will reflect the goodness and hope that we find in God and give His strength and hope to all those who are suffering.
