40 Days for Life campaigns began on Ash Wednesday in several locations in the Diocese of Raleigh, including Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Raleigh and Wilmington. The internationally coordinated campaign aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and peaceful, all-day vigils in front of abortion businesses.
To participate, visit the campaign page for the location you want to join to view the calendar and sign up for time slots. Vigil participants must adhere to NC COVID-19 safety precautions; face coverings are required in public outdoor settings if individuals are unable to maintain six feet of social distance with non-household members.
Pope Francis and Archbishop Jose Gomez, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, have endorsed the campaign.
"This program has proven effective in saving the lives of unborn children and sparing women and men the pain and sorrow of abortion," Archbishop Gomez said.
